Page 1: An Iguana and an Alien

So here’s a story you’re probably not going to believe, but it’s true. I promise you! At least I remember it happening…

It was a long time ago when I was teaching in a school that was a bit strange, and a bit peculiar (but not nearly as peculiar and strange as the school you’re in right now!)

As I remember, it was a cold, dark morning and my 4th grade students had just sat down on the rug for our morning meeting.
Josie had raised her hand to ask if she could show her pet iguana to the class (she was holding the iguana in her arms).
“Sure Josie,” I said, “what’s your iguana’s name?”
iguana cartoon“My Iguana’s name is, Alien,” said Josie.
Alien’s a cool name for an iguana.” I said.
Alien isn’t my iguana’s name,” said Josie as she pointed towards the window.
Suddenly all of the students started pointing at the window and screaming, Alien!alien
I spun around and saw that outside the classroom window was a strange looking green person type thingy. It was floating in mid air.
“ALIEN!” I yelled as I jumped up and ran towards the window.
“Don’t!” Mr. R., “It might not be safe!” yelled my students.
But I continued to run towards the alien, I knew I had to find out what it wanted. As I got closer to the window, I saw it lift up its 8 hands as if to say, STOP.

When I counted I saw the alien had 96 fingers in total- how many fingers were on each of the alien’s 8 hands (if they all had the same number of fingers!)
