New Hands

skip count by 10

A young, little boy,
With 2 little hands,
hands-cartoon 2 colored
Wanted to grow 2 more…
Late that night, he told a genie,
“I want them to add up to 4!”
The morning arrived,
And he looked by his side,
4 hands is just what he had,

10 and 10 fingers,
Makes 20 long digits,
He felt so perfectly glad!
The very next night,
The boy went to sleep,
And genie did visit again,
He brought the small boy,
A new pair of new hands,
What would the boy do with them then?

10 – 20 – 30 fingers,
Oh gosh! Oh gosh! Oh gosh!
10 -20- 30 fingers,
Were too many fingers to wash!
That night the boy just wouldn’t sleep,
He didn’t want more hands!
He stayed awake,
That whole, long night,
To thwart the genie’s plans…
How did he pass that long, dark night?
Is something you might ask…
Cutting 30 fingernails is a time consuming task

RELATED MATH CHALLENGES

If the genie gave the boy 6 extra hands, how many fingers would the boy have in total?
If the genie in the poem made a mistake, and only gave the boy 3 extra hands (that’s an odd number of hands). How many fingers would the boy have in total?
If the genie gave the boy 2 extra hands each night for 7 nights, how many fingers would the boy have after the 7 nights? (remember he started with 2 hands)
