Mr. R.’s World of Math

So here’s a story you’re probably not going to believe, but it’s true. I promise you! At least I remember it happening…

It was a long time ago when I was teaching in a school that was a bit strange, and a bit peculiar (but not nearly as peculiar and strange as the school you’re in right now!)

As I remember, it was a cold, dark morning, and as I came to the school, I saw another teacher, Ms. Wigglefrog arriving for the day. We chatted for a minute before we went to our classrooms. My classroom looked as it usually did, but there was something strange in Ms. Wigglefrog’s room…Something that would change her life…

Ms. Wigglefrog entered her room and started preparing for the day like she always did. She hung up her coat, and took out her laptop and put it on her desk. That’s when she noticed there was a bottle of red liquid on her desk that said, “DRINK ME” on it.

Ms. Wigglefrog had never seen the bottle before. She picked it up and stared at the red liquid. She swirled it around but she couldn’t tell what it was. One thing was certain, she was sure she wasn’t going to drink it!
She shrugged and put it back on her desk just as her students rushed noisily into the classroom.

If Ms. Wigglefrog asked the students to quiet down 136 times over the next 8 minutes, how many times a minute did she ask the students to quiet down? (assume she asked the same number of times each minute)
