Page 2: Little Parachutes

Now I’ve had students do irresponsible things before, like the time Carl stuck the beads up his nose, and the time Jon glued leaves to all the desks to make them look like trees, and of course the time Sarah used the paper cutter to trim her hair (don’t ever, ever, ever, try to do that),  but this took the cake.
None of us could believe Matthew pulled the red rope, especially after I’d warned them not to pull it.
After Matthew pulled it, the ceiling tile the red rope was attached to fell down and hit Matthew on the head- lucky it was made of some sort of styrofoam. coins cartoonAt first the students started to laugh, but they stopped laughing when other stuff began to fall out of the ceiling too.
First a whole bunch of coins came raining down, and started rolling all over the floor. After the money stopped falling, things got even weirder.
parachute cartoon5 little people floated down with tiny parachutes and landed on top of the desk. They were only about 8 inches tall, and they didn’t look happy. They didn’t look happy at all!
After they landed, they took off the parachutes and took out these purple flashlight looking thingees.

flashlight cartoonIf the little people had bought 4 purple flashlight thingees for $6.38  each, and paid with $100, how much change did the little people get?
