Chapter 12.3

“Wait,” said Serena as she picked up the bottle and shook it, “There’s something inside of this bottle.”
Serena opened the cap and turned the bottle over. She shook and shook it until something fell out onto the floor.
     “The instructions!” shouted David happily.
“Not the instructions!!” screamed Serena when she saw what had fallen out of the bottle was a hideous looking novoctopus. The novoctopus looked a lot like an octopus but it had nine tentacles instead of eight.
The novoctopus had a yellow patch over one of its eyes. The other eye had disgusting blue stuff dripping from it.
As soon as the novoctopus hit the floor, strange music started to play and it started spinning around and around. When the song was over the novoctopus started to spin faster, and faster, and faster. As it spun, it sprayed the disgusting blue stuff all over the students. The students jumped up onto their leather seats shaking in fright. They wiped the disgusting blue stuff off their faces they screamed, “Step on that novoctopus! Crunch it! Mash it! Smash it!”

If the novoctopus sprayed 6 gallons of disgusting blue stuff out of each of its 9 tentacles, how many gallons had it sprayed in total?
