Mr. R.’s World of Math

Chapter 10.1

As the elevator fell the students screamed, and screamed, and screamed!!
“I can’t believe we’re stuck in this elevator and we don’t even know how to drive it, and we’re miles away from home, and the school is crumbling. and Mr. R. isn’t here and …” cried David, but then he was interrupted by Greg’s screams, “Look out the window, look out the window!”
All the students rushed over to the window. What they saw was not Cocoa’s insides, or their hometown. What they saw was a very strange thing indeed!
The sky was bright green and the students saw the strangest buildings they’d ever seen. They were shaped like teepees except they were built out of marshmallow fluff and spinach pies.
Each building had a little statue of Popeye in front of it and whenever one of the strange animals that lived in the city walked by a statue it saluted and ate a can of spinach.

There were

1,456,322 animals in sight and there were another
6,544,788 animals hiding around the city.

What was the difference between the number of animals that were in sight and the number of animals that were hiding?
