basketball courtThe crowd booed and booed as Jenna dribbled up the court. She screamed,
“This is our chance. Everyone get ready! If we get this basket, we can win and get out of this place!”
“Yeah, and I won’t have to eat zucchini stew for every meal forever!” said Jake.
Jenna passed the ball to Carlos, who passed it to Josie, who passed it behind her back to Jenna who shot it. As the ball sailed through the air, about 30 zucchinis were launched by fans to deflect it away from the basket, but miraculously, none of them hit the ball. scoreboard cartoonThe ball sailed through the hoop and the scoreboard read 88-86 visitors win!
We all celebrated our victory in the middle of the court while the fans and the Flying Zucchinis were shocked into silence.
“Now what?” asked Josie,
“We have to get out of here!”
“Yeah, but how? How do we get back from some weird planet when we don’t even know where we are?”
zucchini cartoonSuddenly, there was a loud noise and everyone looked up to see a huge, giant, gargantuan zucchini floating down into the arena. It looked like a blimp!
“What is that thing?” asked Zander. Then we heard a voice coming from inside of it. It was Karl’s voice.
“It’s me, Karl. I’m driving this thing!”
We all suddenly remembered that Karl had been out getting snack when we’d been pumped inside Zander’s basketball.

The snack Karl had brought back to the class was bananas. He’d brought 37 bananas. If each banana was 123 calories, how many calories were in all the bananas combined?

Karl continued his story, “When I came back to class with the snack, everyone had disappeared. All I found was this zucchini on Mr. R.’s desk. I did a photo search on google, and figured out that not only was it a vegetable, but it was also a spaceship. I quickly learned how to fly it from another website and here I am! Now get on quick, before these zucchini people stop us from going home!”
Karl threw down a rope ladder and we all climbed up into the giant zucchini.
The people from Planet Zucchini didn’t throw anything at the giant floating zucchini, I guess they thought it was kind of sacred, and button panel cartoonwe got on as Karl sat down in a seat and pressed a few buttons. We heard some engines start, and we were thrown backwards as we blasted out of the roof of the arena!
It seemed like only a few seconds before we landed back in the classroom where we all piled out of the zucchini.
The zucchini disappeared as the students went back to their desks and took a seat.
“I’m so happy we won that basketball game!” said Jenna.
“Yeah, we defeated those Flying Zucchinis, and now we won’t have to eat zucchini pizza every day for the rest of our lives.”pizza zucchini
“That’s the best news I heard all day! Everyone fist bumps!” The students and I all gave each other fist bumps and sat back down.
“Well,” I said, “I guess we better get back to the day’s school work.”
“Please Mr. R,” complained Jake, “I don’t want this to be just another boring day at school.”
