Subtraction Cat

There once was a cat,
Who liked to subtract,
He only took objects away...
He took away mice,
And chicken and rice,
The things,
With which he could play...
Then curled on a chair,
And fixed up his hair,
Then slept until he awoke...
He took away things,
Until none were left,
No chipmunks,
Or frog that could croak...
He ate in his dreams,
In real life, it seems,
He’d subtracted his meat and his fish...
He lay in his spot,
Then thought of a plot,
Then finished by making a wish...
He wished for the things,
He’d taken away,
Wished for some things to come back...
Then curled on a chair,
And closed his cat eyes,
For a lengthy,
Addition filled nap...
