As the students fell in the elevator, they all screamed and screamed and screamed!!

"I can't believe we're stuck in this elevator and we don't even know how to steer it, and we are miles away from home, and the school is crumbling and Mr. R isn't here and ..." cried David as he was interrupted by Greg's screams,
"Look out the window, look out the window!" All the students rushed over to the window. What they saw was not Cocoa's insides, or their hometown. What they saw was a very strange thing indeed! The sky was bright green and the students saw the strangest buildings that they had ever seen. They were shaped like teepees except they were built out of marshmallow fluff and spinach pies. Each building had a little statue of Popeye in front of it and whenever one of the strange animals that lived in the city walked by the statue it saluted to it and then ate a can of spinach. There were 1, 456, 322 animals in sight and there were another 6, 544,788 animals hiding around the city.

What was the difference between the number of animals that were in sight and the number of animals that were hiding?
